Different Types of Fruits

Fruits
In an interview with Dr. Unger, the most key factor in consuming fruits repeatedly flowed around the idea of variety. In just naming different fruits, an immediate difference between them is their color: fruits are vary in their color composition. This color composition is indicative of their nutrient make-up: different fruits have various levels of varying nutrients, like sodium or potassium for example, within them. This is the main reason why you should eat different kinds of fruits each day. Although I am not aware of specific variety in terms of color, I eat at least three different colored fruits every day because each has a different makeup; therefore, I know that I am ingesting a high level of many nutrients and not excluding any.
Why they're important
Fruits are defined as the sweet and fleshy product of a tree or other plant that contains seed and can be eaten as food. They are arguably one of the most important food groups, especially in consuming an adequate amount. Fruits, as you have just read, house the seed: they hold the key to a new plant. This seed, in order to properly grow and nourish, must have vital nutrients for its functioning. It is for this reason that fruits are very high in nutrients: this is also why you should be consuming a substantial portion of fruit.
Ingesting Fruit
One major characteristic of fruits (and vegetables) is their calorie index: they are very low in calories per serving. What does this mean? Unlike sugary foods (like potato chips and other popular snacks), you can eat a large amount of fruit with little risk in ingesting more calories than you need. So, you don't have to be as mindful of the amount of fruit that you are eating: you can add more to your meal with less consequences. I, as mentioned before, like to eat three different colored fruits a day: I also eat multiple fruits each meal. I usually have two different kinds of fruit with each of my meals. Due to the low calorie index of fruit, I don't feel as full either, allowing me to eat more if I choose to.

In terms of actual reccommendations, I suggest going to this link: https://oregon.providence.org/forms-and-information/a/ask-an-expert-can-a-person-eat-too-much-fruit/ . I honestly do not believe that you can eat too much fruit. The extra nutrients that you ingest from the food often are expelled out of the body when you go to the bathroom. Also, unless you are a vegan, your meals shouldn't solely consist of fruits (and some vegetables), as you should be eating some meats, grains, and dairy-based products (unless you have a medical condition). This means that these other foods, which tend to have more calories (in some), will fill you up to a larger degree. Even if you eat a couple different fruits each meal, you should still feel full from the other foods.
Fruits to Eat
Since college restricts the variety of foods that you can eat (unless you choose to buy some at a store), you'll be restricted to only eating fruits that the college, or Metz, has offered. In Metz, there are two areas with fruits: the salad bar and "fruit" station.
The salad bar, as you most likely know, is between the tables to sit down and the grill: it has its own island and immediately to your right when you walk in. The bar often has the same fruits: cantaloupe, strawberry, oranges, and blueberries. Sometimes, they have other fruits, like grapes and pinneapple. This shouldn't be much of a concern, however, because they are all different in color, meaning they have different composition of macro and micronutrients. Make sure to eat a couple of each fruit at the salad bar, as well as the "fruit" station.

I often go to the "fruit" station (I don't know the actual name for this place in Metz) first for my fruit. There are always different kinds of fruits along with banana there. Sometimes, the station has some pears, as well. Along with the salad bar, I have more variety in fruit selection. If grabbing bananas, I like to grab two at the same time because I don't feel that I get enough from just one. So, when looking for fruits to eat per meal, grab two different kinds (or more, if you like), with some from the "fruit" station and others from the salad bar.
